This project is inspired by the popular "painting a day" concept developed by Duane Keiser in 2004. There are numerous artists throughout the world who have begun creating a painting a day, but as of yet, there have been no mosaic artists who have embraced this concept.
These small works take about 3 hours to produce, leaving me time to work on other larger projects while creating a body of small work that is accessible to a large number of people. Mosaic art tends to be a very expensive purchase, often in the thousands of dollars, and so is beyond the financial reach of many people. It is my hope that these smaller works, priced at $100 USD each, will allow a greater number of people to enjoy owning a piece of mosaic fine art.
At the same time, by following a popular fine art format of artwork delivery, I hope to help push mosaic towards a greater acceptance by the fine art community as a whole.
My other hope for this project is that by creating a work of art from start to finish each day, both my technical and creative mosaic skills will progress at a much faster pace than by working exclusively on larger projects .
